Beneïdes de caballos

The popular holidays are excellent occasions to know the traditions of every people.The festivities of Andratx are spread over the year and each village has its own way of commemorating them.

The Three Kings.
On January 5 the arrival of the Three kings is celebrated. They come from East astride and, after adoring the Baby Jesus, distribute the gifts to the children.

Sant Antoni.
During the weekend preceding or following to 17 th January, Andratx celebrates the foguerons,bonfires.On Sunday the blessing,beneïdes,of animals and carts takes place at the square Plaza del Pou

In February the carnival comes and the dijous llarder opens last days before the Lent. During the weekend become the popular ruas

Easter week processions.
The festivities of Easter begin the Palm Sunday,palm and olive branches are blessed.On Good Friday a procession takes place through the streets of the town of Andratx. On Sunday of Easter there is celebrated the procession of Jesus Meeting by the Vírgen Maria.Finally, on Easter Monday, is celebrated Pancaritat, a pilgrimage to the Tower of Sant Elm.

Agricultural Fair.
During the first weekend of april is the Agricultural,Livestock, Arts and Crafts and Industrial Fair, one of the appointments most waited in the municipality.

The summer is the moment summit of the municipality and it is when the saint festivities are celebrated in the villages. They are days full of festive activities that include sports days, cultural acts, concerts, verbenas, popular dances and a great castle of fireworks, towards the midnight, to close the holidays

San Pedro, fiestas de Andratx (Saint Peter Festivity)
This saint festivity of the municipality begin with San Pedro, saint of Andratx, June 29, with High Mass in the church of Andratx's Santa Maria.

La Virgen del Carmen, fiestas del Puerto de Andratx (Cármen's Virgin,Puerto de Andratx Festivity)
In July 16 is the festivity of the Virgen del Cármen, mistress of the fishermen and of Andratx's Port, with a seaworthy procession. After the mass, the procession goes out of the church with the virgin, happens for diverse streets of the Port up to coming to the wharf, where embark the image of the virgin and sail along the waters of the port. Numerous adorned boats accompany the mistress

Moros y Cristianos, fiestas de Sant Elm (and Christians, Sant Elm)
The first weekend of August, during the holidays in honor to Santa Catalina Tomás, Sant Elm lives through the battle of the Moros and Cristianos, led by a great multitude of people dressed to the traditional way of payeses and moros in Sant Elm's beach.

La Mare de Déu d'Agost, fiestas de sa Coma (The Ascensión of the Mother of God, Sa Coma Festvities)
On August 15 the festivity of the Mare de Déu commemorates of Sa Coma, with religious trade

San Agustín y la Mare de Déu de la Trapa, fiestas de s'Arracó (Saint Agustín and The Mother of God La Trapa,S'arraccó Festivities)
On August 29 there is celebrated the festivity of San Agustín, saint of s'Arracó, with High Mass in the church of the Saint Christ.The festivity of the Mare de Déu of La Trapa in s'Arracó,September 8, closes the calendar of saint festivities,with a popular procession and the dance of the offer



June 29, Saturday, San Pere, in Andratx.
July 16, Tuesday, Mare de Deu del Carme, in Port d'Andratx.
August 2, Friday, Mare de Deu dels Angels, for the entire term municipal.
Día August 28, Wednesday, Sant Agustí, in S'Arracó.
